How are you? Sorry for the delay, but I’ve been super duper busy; and it was literally impossible to take some time to just sit and write a piece for you.
Last Monday I went to a concert in Brussels. I went to see Kodaline, and to be honest (hooonNEST!!!) it was epic! To keep this memory as long as possible, I thought it would be nice to write about “What to Wear to a Rock Concert? I won’t write about festival gear, I’ll leave that for the summer (or Coachella, even if we, Europeans, don’t feel the hype as much as the Americans do); so here I’ll focus on a simple concert.
First thing first, you don’t wear the same outfit to a rock concert and a pop concert. Just so we’re clear, when I say “you don’t”, it’s just to make me feel omniscient; because you can wear whatever the hell you want ! But, for the sake of discussion, let’s just go with it… For instance, I wouldn’t wear the same look to see The Libertines, and to see the legendary Miss Britney Spears’ show in Vegas (Gosh, I love Brit Brit ❤ ).
Anyway, as I mentioned above, since I went to see Kodaline – an Irish rock band – this post will be dedicated to the perfect outfit for a rock concert.
To me, the key is comfort. You’ll be standing for hours, you’ll probably be pushed by overexcited (read drunk) people, groupies will scream the lyrics out loud right in your ears, … You don’t want, on top of that, to be wearing some uncomfortable clothes.
So here’s my recommendation for the perfect uniform: black or grey (skinny) jeans + white tank top + black boots:
- Jeans are comfortable, yet sexy.
- Tank top. With so many people in the room, it will be crazy hot. Trust me, you don’t want to wear your knitted fluffy sweater. Put you sweater and your parka in the locker.
- I don’t know how I feel about the band’s t-shirt. I guess it can be super fun if you don’t take yourself too seriously. On the other hand, is it too groupie-like? I really don’t know…
- Boots: you’ll be moving, you’ll be shoved, you’ll jump when the band asks you to (or is it just me?); so you don’t want to be struggling to do so in heels. Unless you’re really short and have bad luck (you know, “the-tallest-people-in-the-country-are-at-the-same-concert-as-me-and-they-all-decided-to-stand-right-before-me kind of bad luck). In that case, maybe heels are a good idea. But then, I recommend wedges or chunky heels. Kitten heels are definitely not ideal! Heels are also okay if you’re sitting. Obviously.
All right, now you’re good to go! The only thing you have to do is buy a concert ticket 😉
So what’s the last concert you went to? Did you enjoy it? What did you wear?
