The New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2017-2018 Report

Hello there,

So, I know that NYFW ended more than 2 weeks ago, but hey, better late than never right?

I must admit I prefer the September fashion weeks. It’s February, I see the new spring/summer collections in stores. I can’t be bothered to think of next fall/winter. I’m so done with the grey, the rain, and the cold. I want some sun in my life for crying out loud! Still, if anything can make me look forward to being cold, it’s definitely fashion 😉

In this post, you can find my report on NYFW (ergo the very original title…): who are the big names? What are the big trends? Fun anecdotes and/or noteworthy moments? And what were my favorite fashionistas up to? Let’s have a look!

Who are the big names?

There are a lot ! A long list of designers showcased their collection during NYFW, and among the most popular: Naeem Khan, Marchesa, Jenny Packham,  and Oscar De la Renta (You can find the list -> here ).

What were the big trends?

Well, again, there were a lot.  If you want a long list, you can check out these sources (Instyle and Harper Bazaar).  Among all of these trends, here are my favorites:

Ketchup vs. Mustard“: Monochromatic outfits in primary reds and yellows. Seen at, among others, Oscar de la Renta, Jason Wu and Calvin Klein

Worth the effort“: It may seem difficult to wear, but it’s definitely original! Seen at, among others, Proenza Schouler and Calvin Klein.

Say it Proud“: Love it. And, contrary to the trend above, super easy to wear! Seen at, among others, Alice & Olivia, Prabal Gurung, and Creatures of Comfort.

Fall Florals“: As Miranda Priestly would say “Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.” But it’s fall, so that’s cool! Seen at, among others, Calvin Klein, and Altuzarra.

Rad in plaid“: I guess plaid is to fall what florals print is to spring. But I think it always gives a nice vibe to an outfit. Seen at, among others, Tory Burch, Victoria Beckham, and Marc Jacobs.

Stay in Neutral“: Seen at among others, Michael Kors, Proenza Schouler, Derek Lam, Calvin Klein, Ryan Roche, Tory Burch, and Brandon Maxwell

Fashion bloggers in NY?

Some of my favorites were there: Chiara Ferragni, Paola Alberdi, Aimee Song, Chriselle Lim, Michelle Madsen, Brittany Xavier, …

Noteworthy moments?

Marc Jacobs show! It was kind of epic… [Check. This. Out]

“Plus-size” models walked the runway for Michael Kors, Prabal Gurung, and Proenza Schouler.

Also transgender models walked the Michael Kors, Coach, Proenza Schouler and Philippe Plein‘s show.

It almost makes you want to be next Fall… 😉

Bisous,
