So, I know that NYFW ended more than 2 weeks ago, but hey, better late than never right?
I must admit I prefer the September fashion weeks. It’s February, I see the new spring/summer collections in stores. I can’t be bothered to think of next fall/winter. I’m so done with the grey, the rain, and the cold. I want some sun in my life for crying out loud! Still, if anything can make me look forward to being cold, it’s definitely fashion 😉
In this post, you can find my report on NYFW (ergo the very original title…): who are the big names? What are the big trends? Fun anecdotes and/or noteworthy moments? And what were my favorite fashionistas up to? Let’s have a look!
NEW YORK FASHION WEEK #NYFW (February 9th – 17th)
Who are the big names?
There are a lot ! A long list of designers showcased their collection during NYFW, and among the most popular: Naeem Khan, Marchesa, Jenny Packham, and Oscar De la Renta (You can find the list -> here ).
What were the big trends?
“Ketchup vs. Mustard“: Monochromatic outfits in primary reds and yellows. Seen at, among others, Oscar de la Renta, Jason Wu and Calvin Klein
“Skinny Grey Suiting“: I love when my outfit screams “Today, I mean business!”. Seen at, among others Alexander Wang, Jason Wu and Calvin Klein
“Worth the effort“: It may seem difficult to wear, but it’s definitely original! Seen at, among others, Proenza Schouler and Calvin Klein.
“Say it Proud“: Love it. And, contrary to the trend above, super easy to wear! Seen at, among others, Alice & Olivia, Prabal Gurung, and Creatures of Comfort.
“Fall Florals“: As Miranda Priestly would say “Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.” But it’s fall, so that’s cool! Seen at, among others, Calvin Klein, and Altuzarra.
“Shoe Candy“: Colorful shoes. Where do I sign up? Seen at, among others, Calvin Klein, and Alice & Olivia.
“The velveteen ribbon“: Ooooh! I already have a shirt like that. Seen at, among others, Carolina Herrera, and Tory Burch.
“Rad in plaid“: I guess plaid is to fall what florals print is to spring. But I think it always gives a nice vibe to an outfit. Seen at, among others, Tory Burch, Victoria Beckham, and Marc Jacobs.
“Feeling plush“: hell yeah! Seen at, among others, Cinq à Sept, and Gabriela Hearst.
“Stay in Neutral“: Seen at among others, Michael Kors, Proenza Schouler, Derek Lam, Calvin Klein, Ryan Roche, Tory Burch, and Brandon Maxwell
